What you should know about Neutering/Spaying your pup!

Your puppy can be neutered or spayed as early as 5 months. We took in Arty at 6 months. I don’t know if this is true but I’ve heard a lot of dog owners say that puppies personalities change after they have been neutered or spayed. Since I liked Arty just the way he was (obvious) I wanted to get him neutered as soon as possible so that he would grow up to be pretty much the same dog.

The day of the procedure came and of course I was scared. All this thoughts run through your head, will he wake up, will it be painful for him, will he be the same pup?

Thanks to the Corgi heavens Arty got out of surgery a few hours later doing well.

A few tips for your pup after they get spayed or neutered:

  • Do not bathe them for 2 weeks.
  • Give prescribed medicine as needed
  • Give lots of hugs and kisses to your pup 🙂
  • Keep them confined to a small space to avoid tearing the stitches.
  • Check the stitches every day to make sure it looks normal and is healing properly.
  • Have your dog wear the Elizabethan Cone for a week and a half (they will not like you, but its okay).
  • Bathe your dog after 2 weeks. Haha

I hope these tips help in keeping your dog safe and comfortable!
